Tres Leches cupcakes are unqiue from others because they contain three different types of milk. Hence the name — translated into English, Tres Leches means “three milks.” In this particular recipe, the milks used are evaporated, condensed and heavy cream (although you can substitute coconut milk.) The rest of batter is made up up standard cupcake ingredients like eggs, flour and sugar. Instead of frosting, cut out a portion of the top of each baked treat and fill with a homemade meringue frosting that includes a pinch of cinnamon. Yummy!

Tres Leches Cupcakes
Rich, sweet, and creamy are three words for this three milk, or Tres Leches, cupcake. While the name literally means “three milks”, there are four milks used in this recipe; buttermilk, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and coconut milk, all of which add to the decadent flavor and texture of this dessert. The Dulce de Leche frosting also lives up to its name, which means “candy of milk”. Whether on its own as a snack, or after a meal, this cupcake is “tres bon’”.
