Black Velvet Spider Cupcakes are a wonderful addition to a Halloween menu. The flavor of the cupcakes match the classic red velvet cupcake, but are dyed black instead of the traditional red.

Pumpkin Walnut Spider Cupcakes

What’s scarier.. spiders or snakes? Luckily we don’t have to worry about smashing these spiders! They are actually invited to the halloween party!

These spider cupcakes start with pumpkin walnut cupcake batter, and that might just be my favorite part! They are pretty simple to make and they have great flavor from the brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and pumpkin puree. The walnuts add a great crunch and I’m pretty sure walnuts and pumpkin go together like peanut butter and chocolate 🙂 The only thing you’ll have to worry about with these adorable spiders is how to eat them!

SPIDER CUPCAKES


The best thing about Halloween (besides the candy) is the creative cupcakes and other treats! These mini cupcakes are chocolate, made using Martha Stewart’s One Bowl cupcake recipe. Once they’re baked, the fun really begins. All that you need to turn these normal cupcakes into tiny mutant spiders is some black sanding sugar, cinnamon candy, marshmallows and black licorice, and a little imagination, of course. Who can resist eating a tiny, creepy spider?

SPOOKY SPIDER CUPCAKES


Making cute Halloween-themed treats doesn’t need to be complicated. These spooky spider cupcakes are made from a chocolate cake mix (these particular ones use a dark chocolate fudge mix, but the choice is yours), some frosting, and a few easy to assemble toppings. Once the cupcakes are baked and frosted lightly with chocolate glaze, all that need to be added are the chocolate sprinkles (for the spider body), some black string licorice (for the legs) and two white eyeball candies (self-explanatory)!

Chocolate-Nutella Spider Cupcakes


These chocolate-nutella spider cupcakes aren’t quite as scary as they sound. They are made from standard chocolate cupcake batter (you can use a mix of a from-scratch recipe, it doesn’t matter) and decorated with pretzels, Cocoa Puffs cereal, melted chocolate, chocolate sprinkles (the latter two go on the pretzels to make the spider legs) and Nutella. The Nutella acts like a standard frosting, and holds the Cocoa Puffs onto the top of each treat. These spiders are more tasty than scary!
