Happy Autumn! It’s only fitting that we share a pumpkin and maple recipe today, and this one hits the spot. Dense and moist, like a good carrot cake – but with all the rich, delicious flavor of pumpkin that you could possibly long for.

The spices in the batter only compliment the pumpkin and make it shine, instead of overwhelming, and cream cheese frosting is spiked with cinnamon and maple syrup for a cupcake that screams “Happy Fall!”

What’s scarier.. spiders or snakes? Luckily we don’t have to worry about smashing these spiders! They are actually invited to the halloween party!

These spider cupcakes start with pumpkin walnut cupcake batter, and that might just be my favorite part! They are pretty simple to make and they have great flavor from the brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and pumpkin puree. The walnuts add a great crunch and I’m pretty sure walnuts and pumpkin go together like peanut butter and chocolate 🙂 The only thing you’ll have to worry about with these adorable spiders is how to eat them!

Anything that combines pumpkin and cream cheese is a winner with me and these cupcakes come out so flavorful and moist but with minimal effort. We didn’t add cinnamon to the frosting but I’m certain it would be wonderful as well.

While the cupcake stands on its own and could probably be inhaled about ten times before anyone noticed the frosting was missing, the maple – yes…maple – meringue is to die for.
