Red Velvet Nutella Cupcakes

Red velvet cupcakes typically are topped off with cream cheese frosting. These are not – they are topped with something better: Nutella! This chocolate hazelnut spread is turned into a luscious buttercream frosting thanks to the addition of unsalted butter, milk, powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. The cupcakes themselves are a traditional red velvet, complete with dark chocolate cocoa powder, white vinegar, vanilla extract and red food coloring. If you wanted to, you could always add on some sprinkles before enjoying!

Nutella Cupcakes with Nutella Frosting

Not only are these Nutella cupcakes delicious, but they are gluten free as well! By substituting regular baking flour with cornstarch, rice flour, millet flour and tapioca flour, these tasty treats can be enjoyed by those with gluten sensitivities. Besides the flour, the batter also contains Nutella, ground coffee, butter, milk, brown sugar, eggs, and a few other ingredients. The cream cheese frosting contains Nutella as well, although you can make a batch without it.

Nutella Cupcakes with Triple Cream Cheese Frosting

The name of these sweet treats alone is drool-worthy: nutella cupcakes with triple cream cheese frosting. The nutella (that yummy, chocolate and hazelnut spread) in the batter results in a thick, chocolate-y and nutty combination. Once you add in the triple cream cheese frosting, these treats are escalated to an amospheric level of droolworthiness. And what is that on top? More chocolate, this time in form of sprinkles? Yikes. So much goodness in one little package.

Nutella Cupcakes

For those not in the know, Nutella is a heavenly mix of chocolate and hazelnuts that have been mixed into a paste. It’s tasty by itself, but when mixed into the frosting that tops these chocolate cupcakes, it becomes something so much more… memorable. The cupcake batter contains hot coffee for a little added kick, and each features a whole (unwrapped of course) Ferrero Rocher candy. The Nutella is the featured ingredient in the otherwise traditional buttercream frosting, adding a little extra flavor to these already yummy cupcakes.
