Fourth of July Cupcakes

Fourth of July Cupcakes

A dessert doesn’t have to be red, white and blue to be appropriate for a 4th of July celebration, but it certainly doesn’t hurt, especially when topped with berries and cream cheese frosting.

If you’re still wondering what to make for tomorrow’s festivities, these easy cupcakes will certainly do the trick. A basic vanilla recipe does the trick with a few drops of food coloring and some blueberries and / or strawberries. Festive and healthy? Yes, please!

FOURTH OF JULY BUTTERMILK CUPCAKES

Simple buttermilk cupcakes become Fourth of July themed in a flash, thanks to the addition of homemade cream cheese icing, some red, white and blue sprinkles, and a single red or blue star shaped marshmallow. The cupcakes themselves are easy to make, and are a mix of buttermilk, lemon juice, vanilla, sugar, eggs, butter, cake flour and baking soda. Once they have baked and cooled, the fun begins as you apply the toppings before serving these treats!
