Espresso cupcakes with chocolate ganache and white chocolate frosting are rich, indulgent, and amazingly chocolaty. As if the espresso cupcake weren’t already over the top in scrumptiousness, it is filled with a chocolate ganache that is full-bodied and intense. The white chocolate frosting adds even more powerful chocolate flavor to create an amazingly rich dessert. This is a cupcake for a special dessert table, an elegant party, or maybe, just a snack with a glass of milk.

These adults-only treats will probably help you wake up in the morning (thanks to the espresso!) but probably should be served after dinner, due to the Kahlua in the batter and frosting. The vanilla bean paste and buttermilk in the batter enhance the flavor of the vanilla-y Kahlua, which is then set off by the espresso powder (and more Kahlua) in the otherwise traditional cream cheese frosting. Adding a few chocolate covered espresso beans to the top of each just give them a little extra “zing.”
