chocolate cupcakes Posts

Sometimes the classics are the best. Even though you can make cupcakes that contain everything from squash to spinach, and in flavors like Nutella, pineapple and rose (yes, rose) there are some that are infinitely better than the others. Look at these chocolate chocolate cupcakes, for example. They consist of chocolate batter, flavored with chocolate powder and vanilla extract, and are topped with chocolate icing and a few chocolate shavings. Classic, yet perfect.

German chocolate cupcakes are an offshoot of classic German chocolate cake. They consist of chunks of bittersweet chocolate (although you can semisweet if you prefer), coffee, butter, cake flour, cocoa powder (for extra chocolate-y goodness) and buttermilk, among other things. However, the one thing that make them German chocolate, and not just standard chocolate cupcakes, is the semi-sweetened coconut flakes that are added to the chocolate frosting. Make sure to toast them first, in order to end up a very authentic treat!

Orange Cream & Chocolate Cupcakes

There are a number of established flavor pairings that people love – chocolate and peanut butter, strawberry and banana, but orange and chocolate? Yes. It might seem unusual, but this combination works together quite nicely. These cupcakes consist of a German chocolate cake mix with added orange emulsion, and some creative toppings. These toppings include homemade orange cream frosting, melted chocolate drizzle and a single orange Sixlets candy placed at the very tippy-top of the orange frosting mountain. All of these make these cupcakes unusual, remarkable and unforgettable.

These chocolate cupcakes with orange cream cheese frosting easily fit any Halloween, October, or Autumn themed parties that you’re planning on throwing or attending. However, their lack of anything overtly Halloween-y (besides the color combo and the orange zest in the frosting) means that you can bake and serve them any time of the year. After all, there’s nothing better than a chocolate cupcake topped with some delectable orange flavored cream cheese frosting, right? Right!

What’s better than a chocolate cupcake? A low fat chocolate cupcake, of course! As an added bonus, these cupcakes are very easy to make, and only contain four things: chocolate cake mix, instant chocolate pudding, canned pumpkin and water. Yes, you read that right – no eggs, butter, or anything else. The results are a batch of very moist and tasty chocolate cupcakes that are actually kind of good for you. Top them with chocolate frosting (a low fat glaze recipe is included) and enjoy!

Chocolate Cupcakes with Vanilla Butter Cream and Strawberry

Sometimes the simple things are the best. These chocolate cupcakes are made out of 10 ingredients, most of which many bakers have laying around in their homes. (The only exception to this might be the buttermilk.) The vanilla frosting is just as simple, consisting solely of heavy cream, butter, sugar and vanilla extract. The strawberry is simply placed on top of the baked, cooled and frosted treats – not placed within them in way. The results are simple, classic, and tasty.
