Baking with brown butter is slightly more complicated than simply mixing the ingredients together to form batter — but the results are worth it. These cupcakes contain brown butter, cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, egg whites, sugar, vanilla extract and whole milk. The cream cheese frosting is made from lucuna powder (lucuna is a maple-like sweetener that is native to South America), cream cheese and more unsalted butter. Definitely different, definitely tasty.

Say it five times fast, “brown butter pumpkin cupcakes with salted caramel frosting.” Kind of a tongue twister, right? Despite their long and twist-y name, these cupcakes personify autumn in all of its glory. Flavored with cinnamon. nutmeg, cloves, vanilla extract and pumpkin puree, among other things, they are topped with salted caramel buttercream after baking and cooling. For an extra touch of tastiness, drizzle them with salted caramel sauce before serving.
