The trick to making these chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes great lies in the use of frozen cookie dough. A small ball of it placed at the bottom of the cupcake liner becomes an easy way to add filling once the rest of the batter is poured around it. Baking these takes care of not only the dough, but the cookie as well, making this addition a pleasant surprise. Once these are baked, they are topped with a vanilla buttercream frosting, and then some tiny chocolate chips.
