Neapolitan Cupcakes

Neopolitan ice cream – that classic mix of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry – is hard to beat, although these neopolitan cupcakes definitely will end up on top. Made from a combination of white cupcake batter flavored with cocoa powder and strawberry jam (plus some left white to complete the color scheme) and matching frosting, these tasty treats do not look like the ice cream, but definitely taste like it! Serve with a side of aforementioned ice cream, just to add to the effect.

Old-Fashioned Cupcakes

Old Fashioned homemade vanilla cupcakes with old fashioned buttercream frosting are comfort food at its finest. The flavor is mild and buttery rich and the cupcake itself is a blank canvas for cupcake decorating. Since the palette is light, these can be tinted easily to match any theme or party color. The frosting lends itself the same way to overall party design. These are the perfect for tea, for parties, or for after dinner desserts.

Cardamom and Rosewater Scented Cupcakes

Don’t let the title of these cupcakes throw you off — they are, indeed, tasty cupcakes, not a cupcake shaped potpourri or sachet. The batter is made from vanilla, flour, and all of the traditional cupcake ingredients, with the addition of some ground cardomom. Buying the green cardamom pods whole and grinding them yourself, rather than purchasing the spice already ground, will save you money as well as give the batter an extra kick. The frosting is made from icing sugar, butter and water, with a few teaspoons of rosewater thrown in for good measure. The end result is both tasty and sweet-smelling!

Champagne Cupcakes

Looking for something sweet to serve at your next dinner or holiday party? These adults-only champagne cupcakes should fit the bill nicely. The champagne (or sparking wine) in the batter makes them light and fluffy, and the extra addition champagne in the frosting simply adds to the effect. Adding a few edible sparkles or beads to the top of each of these frosted beauties makes them perfect for parties. Non-drinkers will do well with a sparkling apple cider instead of champagne, so consider making a batch of both.

Lavender Honey Cupcakes

Lavendar Honey Cupcakes, ahhh. The very name sounds sweet, soft, and peaceful, however, these light and tasy cupcakes are no lightweights in the taste department. The ingredients are few and easily found in most local markets, and the recipe promises to be simple and straigh-forward. This is also a quick treat when you consider that the preparation time and bake time combined are less than 45 minutes. With a light frosting this cupcake will be a hit at a tea, pot-luck, or party.
