Cannoli Cupcakes

These cannoli cupcakes are the perfect finish to an Italian dinner, or similarly themed party. The trick to make them cannoli-like lies in the ricotta cheese and marsala wine mixed into the otherwise traditional (flour, vanilla, milk, sugar, orange zest, eggs, salt and baking powder) cupcake batter. The cannoli filling is made from more ricotta cheese, chocolate chips, sugar and orange zest, and then the whole thing is topped off with a homemade vanilla bean buttercream frosting — and a few chopped pistachios for good measure.

Cannoli Cupcakes

Cannoli Cupcakes are a flavor filled delight; part cupcake, part Italian cream dessert, and all yummy. Still, these cupcakes are not a quick and easy dessert. There are specific instructions concerning the ingredients and mixing for the batter, the filling, and the frosting. Additionally, the recommendation is that you eat these within three hours of their completion due to the whipped cream in the frosting breaking down after that. Still, they are extra rich and creamy and very likely worth the time and effort.

Tiramisu Cupcakes

Classic Italian Tiramisu with a twist – made into cupcake form – these tasty treats will be a hit at your next party. Although the cupcake itself is simple, with vanilla bean paste, cake flour, sugar and eggs forming the majority of the cake itself, the topping are what make it special. The coffee syrup (made from brewed coffee mixed to a thick consistency with plenty of sugar) and the marscapone frosting differentiate these treats from the norm. Adding a light dusting of coffee and several chocolate-covered coffee beans to the top just makes them that much more memorable!

Tres Leches Cupcakes

Rich, sweet, and creamy are three words for this three milk, or Tres Leches, cupcake. While the name literally means “three milks”, there are four milks used in this recipe; buttermilk, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and coconut milk, all of which add to the decadent flavor and texture of this dessert. The Dulce de Leche frosting also lives up to its name, which means “candy of milk”. Whether on its own as a snack, or after a meal, this cupcake is “tres bon’”.
