Tiramisu Cupcakes

Tiramisu Cupcakes

These Tiramisu Cupcakes are the jam! They are like little individual tiramisu cakes. They drizzled with an espresso Kahlua mixture, filled with tiramisu filling and topped with a light Kahlua mascarpone buttercream. It’s my new favorite, for sure!

Kicking it off with these cupcakes is definitely an awesome way to get started. They are setting the tone with how yummy they are. Irresistible really. If you love tiramisu, these cupcakes are your new favorite dessert. I could seriously just sit down with a spoon and a bowl of tiramisu filling and be a happy camper. It’s the bomb.com (yes, I still live in the 90s in my head).

Chai Cupcakes with Brown Butter Chai Icing

Even if you’ve never been much of a tea person, you’ll want to take a stab at these chai cupcakes before you rule out the flavor forever. Not hot and watery, but certainly warm and perfectly spiced, these treats consist of an ingredient list that’s almost all spice and definitely all yummy. Top them with a buttercream icing, but not just any buttercream. This recipe uses brown butter and tops all that luscious flavor off with a crunchy sugar and spice sprinkle. Are you sold yet? We certainly are!

Coconut Angel Food Cupcakes

Coconut Angel Food Cupcakes

We’ve been all about warming comfort cakes here at The Cupcake Blog lately, but light snacking is important too. It’s January, and we’ve all made resolutions for the new year, some involving shedding a few pounds. If that’s the case, these cupcakes fit the bill. Based on angel food cake with a light coconut flavor infusion, these cupcakes are light, airy and perfect for a sweet treat without that overwhelming full feeling. Plus, they look charmingly similar to the snow piles from last weekend’s #Blizzard2016! Not a huge fan of coconut? Keep in mind the taste is very light here, but if coconut turns you all the way off, substitute vanilla flavor instead, and enjoy these cakes just the same!

Prohibition Bakery’s Mai Thai Cupcakes

Mai Thai Cupcakes

New Year’s celebrations are known for being the perfect champagne occasion, but if you’re not into bubbly, or into drinking your booze, you can still usher in 2016 with an edge, thanks to New York City’s Prohibition Bakery.

Just one of the 55 recipes included in the legendary bakery’s new book, these Mai Thai cupcakes put a whole new twist on the world of fruit-filled cupcakes, namely with a touch of your favorite rum. The cupcakes themselves sound delicious enough, filled with healthy-option ingredients like yogurt and coconut oil, but once these babies are topped with a grenadine and coconut rum frosting and injected with rum, they’re sure to be a collection of cakes that start off any year right, especially since they’re small enough to be hors d’oeuvres.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Red Velvet Cupcakes

The secret to the color of red velvet cupcakes is actually no secret (hint: it’s a ton of red food dye), but the perfect cake (red or otherwise) requires much more than a dump of dye! In fact, it requires finesse. It requires a delicate hand. And most importantly…it requires a delicious recipe that’s been tried and tried again. A good red velvet cupcake makes you feel like you should be WALKING on red velvet, like the superstar that you are. This particular recipe is so perfect that fancy topping isn’t even necessary – a simple buttercream will do. The cupcakes do all the talking for themselves. Listen up.
