Durian and Mangosteen Fruit Cupcakes

For a uniquely flavored treat, follow the instructions on these durian and mangosteen cupcakes. Filled with a buttercream icing made from “puffs” flavored with the king and queen of thai fruits – a.k.a. the spiky Durian and the floral-y Mangosteen – these cupcakes are instantly memorable and exceedingly tasty at the same time. The cupcake batter (vanilla) and homemade buttercream icing (also vanilla) allow the durian and mangosteen flavores to pop through. Top with a whole “puff” of each to create something tasty and beautiful!

Mini Rose Cupcakes

These mini rose cupcakes can best be described by the three D’s: Dainty, Delicate and Delicious. Made from a traditional vanilla cupcake batter and iced with a lovely pink-tinted vanilla buttercream, they are hard to resist even without the beautiful fondant toppings! However, to turn these into the perfect gift, wedding dessert, or birthday cupcake, add a pastel colored fondant leave, flower, butterfly or a series of edible pearls to the top. They’ll look so good that you won’t want to eat them!

Vanilla Rosewater Cupcakes

Vanilla rosewater cupcakes may sound like the latest gourmand perfume trend, but I assure you, they are not. Instead, these simple vanilla cupcakes, made from a traditional combination of flour, salt, baking powder, butter, eggs, sugar vanilla and milk are topped with a vanilla buttercream frosting that contains just a hint of rosewater. (Any more than that and the frosting, as well as the cupcakes, will taste like soap.) Top with a handmade candied rose petal and enjoy!

Autumn Cupcakes

The best thing about autumn — besides the leaves changing colors and the crisp smell in the air — has to be the creative and tasty treats that pop up everywhere. Pumpkin becomes the desired addition to everything from muffins to lattes, including cupcakes! But besides the pumpkin cupcake batter, the season can be reflected in the array of warm color choices in cupcake toppings. From orange, deep red, yellow and brown frosting to edible glitter-encrusted fondant leaves and similarly-colored sprinkles, autumn is everywhere!

Easter Tulip Cupcakes

Needless to say, creating these cupcakes for Easter will make you wish Easter came around more than just one time a year. The lemon curd combined with the butter in the frosting is mixed with just enough sweet sugar to create the perfectly balanced lemony-sweet taste. The light and fluffy vanilla cupcake underneath is the perfect base for the tangy frosting. The gorgeous tulip decoration symbolizes Easter’s new life and flowers that bloom in the springtime.

“Mum” Flower Cupcakes

Vanilla almond cupcakes topped with cream cheese frosting, then decorated to look like mums (the flowers, not your mother) are the perfect things to serve at any spring function. Not only do they look harder to make than they really are, but they look almost too good to eat — until you take that first tasty vanilla, marshmallow and cream cheese-infused bite and find yourself inhaling the rest. How are the flower toppers made? Easy, by slicing the marshmallows diagonally and sprinkling them liberally with sugar.
