Flower Cupcakes

Who’s up for some very colorfully decorated cupcakes? Right: everyone. These flower cupcakes are actually simple to make, as the batter consists of standard vanilla cupcake ingredients, with the exception of sour cream and cornstarch. The frosting is where the fun comes in. Make homemade cream cheese icing (cream cheese, butter, sugar and vanilla extract) and then divide it into batches. Tint each a different color, and then add matching sprinkles. Simple and tasty!

Vanilla Dog Cupcakes with Mocha Frosting Recipe

With these vanilla dog cupcakes, the unique-ness isn’t in the batter – it’s in the decorations. Take standard vanilla cupcakes (although you can make them chocolate if you so choose) and then top them with homemade, creamy mocha frosting. Caramels, Wilton eyes, black jellybeans, marshmallows and pink starburst candies all become the parts of the dog’s face. Use a special “grass tip” to get the frosting to look like fur and then decorate. The results are almost too cute to eat!

Vanilla Cupcakes

Garbanzo bean- fava flour, arrowroot, and potato starch are the foundation for the Vegan, Gluten-free Vanilla Cupcakes. While those foundational ingredients may not sound appetizing on their own, when you add the lemon zest, agave nectar, vanilla extract and applesauce, you have the sweet components that create not only a more healthy dessert alternative, but a yummy variety as well. The vanilla frosting that completes this wholesome treat is just as healthy and yummy.

Snickerdoodle Cupcakes

Snickerdoodles are cinnamon-y sugar-y cookies that when done right, are quite tasty indeed. In comparison, these snickerdoodle cupcakes take the cake, quite literally. The batter contains both cinnamon and sugar, plus vanilla, flour, baking powder, eggs, salt, butter and milk. After baking, top each with a very heaping helping of meringue frosting (you can season it with vanilla, coconut or even coffee, if you’d like) before dusting on even more cinnamon and sugar. Light and tasty, these cupcakes come out better than the cookies!

Coconut Cupcakes

Who’s up for a coconut cupcake topped with vanilla frosting and even more coconut? Exactly: everybody. The batter on these tasty treats is made from flour, salt, baking powder, yogurt, shredded coconut, vanilla, sugar, and a whole host of other ingredients. The frosting consisted of homemade vanilla buttercream that is just sweet enough to complement the coconut in the batter, as well as the shredded coconut that goes on top of the frosting.

Pudding Cupcakes

The thought of putting pudding into cupcake batter might sound a little strange to most people, but to those “in the know” it isn’t so bizarre. Adding prepared pudding to the mix makes the cupcakes thicker, moister and more…. yummy. These pudding cupcakes have tapioca pudding in the batter, alongside vanilla, flour, sugar, butter and other more “traditional” cupcake ingredients. By the time these are done baking, they are so moist that they don’t even need frosting — just a little sprinkle of powdered sugar!

Easter Cupcakes Baked in Real Egg

For a taste of something both wacky and wonderful this Easter, consider serving egg shells filled with cake. Yes, you read that right. By creating a small hole in an eggshell and emptying its contents into a bowl, then, obviously, cleaning the shell very well, you are left with the perfect cupcake container. Pour a little of this lemon and sour cream cake batter into each shell and bake. The best comes when you serve them to guests and watch their eyes light up!

Sweet Revenge’s “Pure” Cupcakes

There are so many complicated cupcake recipes out there that the “pure” ones stand out. And yes, revenge is indeed sweet when these simple cupcakes are served to your guests. Make them from butter, buttermilk, flour, eggs, sugar and vanilla — that is it, which is why they are considered “pure.” Bake, and then top with Sweet Revenge’s “pure” buttercream (butter, shortening, sugar, milk and more vanilla) and then sprinkle with even more sugar. Simple, yet so hard to resist!

Yellow Cupcakes and Pink Frosting

Sometimes the classics are hard to beat. Take these mini yellow cupcakes with pink frosting, for example. Sure, you could add in any number of unique ingredients to give them a different sort of taste or colorful profile, but why go that route when simple is best? These yellow cupcakes contain only standard ingredients, like flour and eggs, while the homemade buttercream frosting is tinted pink and topped with heart-shaped sprinkles. Impossible to resist, right?
